Gilt creams are used by picture framers when making or repairig gilt picture frames. It's a soft paste that comes in different shades of gold. There is also a silver and a copper. I thin them down with turpentine so it just stays in the grain. The ones I use are from Liberon in England. The palce I was buying form in the states have stopped carry the stuff. but I have a supply on hand. I have been told that you can buy something called Rub-n-Buff from Micheal's that is suppossed to be the same stuff. I've never tried it.
