I had the day off, so finished this set of bowls that my mother wanted for christmas. They are 5.5 inches in diameter and 2.25 tall. Fiddleback Maple, finished with salad bowl oil.
No, it took a few days scattered over a couple of weeks. I would do a little and then do some other project. Day one cutting the blanks. They all started at about 2.5 inches. I just set the table saw up and cut them all at once. The turning took an afternoon, maybe three or four hours. The finishing was over a few days. I would put a coat on and let it dry, next night after work, repeat. Then they sat for several days unitil I could get the final buff done. I ran each one through the rouge wheel to get the roughness from finishing off and called it done. They are to be used, so I didn't feel abliged to go though the whole series, and didn't really want wax on them. The salad bowl oil really showed off the quilting.
