Spalted black alder

2005-0#126. Spalted black alder (Alnus glutinosa). Diameter: 136 mm, height: 64 mm. The log has been lying outside in the garden for about 2 years. Green turned about 4 months before finishing turning. Oil based on natural resins.

Another well done piece, Helge.
Nice finish, I like the curve, and foot.
Spalted Black Adler looks similar to spalted Beech.

The bowl is soaked in a solution mixed of linseed oil, China wood oil and turpentine, about equal amount of each. Kept wet for at least one hour. After drying a couple of days another treatment with the oil mixture.

Thanks, Helge. I did not know that Tung Oil and China wood oil where the same product.
