Thanks guys. I hadn't made anything for Jo lately and I've been wanting to make one of these. I took care of two things ay once. Their quick and easy. I think I'm going to have to make some bigger ones though.

Very nice, is there a texture to the wood, it looks like you could feel the dots on the lid and the ribs on the side.

Actually YT, it is smooth when finished. It is possible to get a slight space between the long fibers but that is easily cut or sanded away. I think Black Palm is much prettier. I use it to make bottle stoppers. I wanted to try the red to see how it looked.

Glenn - I think I'm going to try soaking one of these in oil to see how that will look.

That's a neat box! Very interesting wood too. I've seen palm before but it's usually black and you can't see the detail in the wood as well. That's a perfect shape to show off the wood.
