Maybe an odd number of "leaves" would be good, but overall it looks very nice as it is. I like how the curve seems to (or does) continue all the way into the foot. Are the little dark spots inside the "leaves" natural, or applied?
That's really nice. The leaves look good to me and I think if you had made more it might have even been too 'busy'. The texture on the inside adds to it too.
Not sure what's going on today. I commented on this earlier but my comments are gone. Anyway, what I said is that this piece is very nice. You've done well with it. Wally Dickerman talks about doing any detail in odd numbers. Beads, burn lines, etc., all ought to be odd in numbers. My suggestion was to duplicate this form as close as you can except to make five leaves rather than four. Then you, and we, can see which works out better and intrigues the eye more. Great piece. 8)
Thanks for the comments. Rev, I will certainly try another piece and use an odd number...probably five. Ironically, I did do another form similar to this and cut 7 petals. As cfuller indicated, it looked way too busy.
