The object of this exercise was to create a piece which was rustic, but not excessively clunky. It measures 6 7/8 inches in diameter by 9 3/4 inches tall.
It looks like you nailed this for the rustic requirements. It looks like something that would be sitting on the shelf of a country antiques store. It is a little 'clunky' but that adds to the rustic look as does the wormy wood. It looks like a very functional old antique type turning that pre-dates all the artistic things we see today.
I agree with the Rev and Curt. I usually have a greater appreciation for this style instead of some of the more "artistic" things I see.
With that in mind, one suggestion I've been given regarding the finish for a rustic piece is to use a satin or maybe a semi-gloss finish instead of a high gloss. Maybe that's what you have, but it looks fairly glossy to me. I happen to like gloss, but thought I'd pass this on for consideration.
