Buckeye Burl & Ebony

Here is the christmas present I have been working on. Buckeye burl hollow form and ebony lid/finial. Overall height 5 3/4", max dia. 5". The lid/finial is 1 1/2" tall. Wall thickness of 3/32" throughout. Sanded to 1000 and finished with 2 coats of sanding sealer and 3 coats of Deft gloss clear.

Excellent work. I love the more delicate finials as opposed to something heavier, even for box lids. This piece is simply beautiful!

Thanks everyone, she did enjoy the piece quite a bit.
Phil - yes, that is another void at the bottom, that one was fun.
Rev - As for sanding around all of the voids, it wasn't too bad, I sanded it twice, once on the lathe and once off the lathe by hand. Buckeye is fairly soft and sanding is easy.
