Mimosa Bowl

This is the Mimosa bowl I kept mentioning in the forum. Sorry it has take so long to post but it has been a really rough week for me. This bowl is about 7 1/2" in diameter x 2" high and is as light as a feather. This wood has about the same density as cedar. This is a top view.

Is that the real color of mimosa? It is beautiful. Looks a lot like walnut, but if you say it is "light as a feather," then it can't be walnut. Never would have thunk it. Guess I'll have to go hunt me down some mimosa and give it chain saw disease. Nice piece, Phil. 8)

This one is probably the more accurate display of it's true color. But then, it does depend on the light your seeing it in.

Philip,
Looks great. I really like the color of you piece and the shallow wide design really shows it off well. Looks a lot different the the mimosa we have in MD though.

The guy I got it from in Georgia a couple of years ago told me it was Mimosa. All I have is his say so. Whatever it is, it is pretty wood.
