Very nice work, Chris. Only thing I might change, and you may have experimented with and found that it didn't work, would be to enlarge the bottom disk to at least the same size as the top ring. I'm sure it isn't, but it just looks a little top heavy to me for some reason. If you do try one and it's just too clumsy looking, then you can always turn it down to this size. Love the 4 posts and what they are to look like. Your commissioner should love it. 8)
I like the texturing on the rings and the post give it a "dripping" effect. Very nice job.....That gives me an idea for something similar for a gift for a wine lover friend of mine. Same design but bigger at the top ring to accomidate 2 wine glasses that hang from a notch in the ring, but still large enuff at the bottom to be stable.....????
Thanks Rev, I had thought that at first and in fact when I glued them up to drill the holes and primary cuts I could see that it would look to "barrel-ish" with both top and bottom the same size. I'm sure the angle of the photo also has something to do with the top heavy look.
Sky, sounds like a cool idea. Give it a try and see what happens.
LOL. I'm a homebrewer (aka serious beer dork). I've also been getting into wines as of late. The Mrs. likes a good wine also. A glass of wine at dinner has certianly made the meal more enjoyable. Anyway, nice job on the project. That would look nice on my counter and provide a better home for the wine stoppers.
