as you can see i work alot with alder, at the moment thats all I have but soon to change. these were done with a beeswax finish that i was playing with. trying different finishes

Rev: ya im working on it! Finish is my weakness right now..trying different things out..like the friction one the best..someday i will be the artist..now i just make a mess..but sure is fun!
SKYJ: thanks glad u like them...didnt think I had things all that good ..well guess i was wrong!...ya the ol HF just keeps on chugin along beats the hec out of the price of some of the others!

Thanks, I am just learning, as you are. Just turning and allowing the tools to show how they like to cut is sometimes very helpful. You have to make many shavings to learn, especially if there are no instructors.
I have never used Adler, but it looks a bit like Oak.

These are well-turned bowls, Bob. You seem to have had a good experience w/a finish with which I have a terrible time.
