"Calyx" being the outer whorl of petals, usually green, of a flower.
A fitting name for this series of Inside/Out vases I'm making, this one with an inside curve at the tips is 10" long, and 2 3/4" across the widest part.
Chris, the tips are carved a little. They went wider as they swept back in of course, so that gave me a little design flexibility--I carved one whole corner off of each tip, so they curve over.
Very cool, Ken. You have inspired me to go back and do some inside out. And, these vases are first on the list. May be just the thing that gets under a tree or two in a few weeks. 8)
Lee, dry vase only, no tube. I figure even if it had a tube, I'd need a waterproof finish for small spills, and I don't have it so I'm avoiding the wet vase idea for now.
Thanks, everyone!
Thanks, jimmyc! Are you referring to my turning in the mag? I haven't gotten that issue, but I think I have a pic of one of my Katrina relief pieces in there. Or if you're talking to Chris, well, no surprise whatsoever and my congrats also!
