Curly Carob with an Ebony collar

Here is another collared piece. This one is curly carob. The whole tree had this curly figure. I have never seen another carob tree with this figure. It came from a neighborhood in central Phoenix.

Hi,
Once again a beautiful piece, how much of the inside have you removed, it looks about 8mm thick? I have yet to turn this shape and to research how its done and acquire the tools for the inside.

Was that a bark inclusion or just a void? I am getting more and more where I hope for a void or some kind of inclusion as I turn further into the blank. Love those plesent surprises. Anyway, very nice work. 8)

Boots - I think it's about 3/16 inch wall thickness...not sure how convert to mm.

RevDoug - it was a void...the bark hardly ever stays on carob around here.
