That's a very nice vase. The picture is a little dark but in the lighter areas it almost looks like you can see into the wood. It's a beautiful color and shape and I like the small neck too.

Do you consider water base dyes are more color fast than alcohol based dyes?

I've not tried to dye any pieces as yet. I always liked the natural color & grain of the pieces. Perhaps if I turn a "plain" wood then I'll give it a go. I can't seem to picture dyed, maple, burl.
Bruce, what a wonderful shape! The color is very appealing, and the finish perfect. The picture seems to show a green color between black grain patterns. Is that the way it is? If so, how did you pull that off? Congratulations!
Thanks for the comments. The black grain patterns were done by first dying the piece inside and out with black. After it dried I sanded the outside to remove most of the black, but it stays in the grain pattern. Then I used the colours.
