Struck by Lightning

This is a sugar maple hollow form that had a small natural void where it had been hit by lightning many years ago. It is hard to see from the picture, but the reaction in the wood created a lot of interesting figure and color. it also created a challenge to turn as the void was just where the tail stock should go when I was turning the outside of the vessel.

No color added. It was finished with Waterlox.
