Three winged bowl. Turned from a 8.5x3" triangle. Wood is spalted Birch. Finish is Waterlox Gloss. All comments and critiques allways welcome on all my pieces. This was a fun group to make.

You always ask for comments and critiques but it is hard to critique (read be critical of) beauty like this one and the other two pieces. Your imagination and talent are incredible. I only wished I possessed half your ability.
Nice finish, great wood, and I like the way the rim oscillates. Sort of looks like the legs could be steam bent to that shape (Maybe a thought for the future).
Very nice series Gary. I like 'three' the best. I think its a combination of the wood grain and the bowl shape. It looks kind of like a three-legged spider.
My next favorite of the series is 'one'. The support wing looks as if its a seperate piece of wood with the bowl portion passing through. The asymetric design is also very cool.
For some reason, 'two' doesn't do much for me. Its well done but not as cool looking as the others. I don't know if its the shape of the bowl portion or the lack of [perceived] depth (which may be a limitation of photography rather than design...). Skillfully done but it doesn't jump out and say 'I'm cool' like the others do. That said, I wish
This is a particularly pretty piece of wood. Your treatment of it is superb. Beautiful tool work and finish. Design is as usual, flawless. Maybe you could write up a tutorial for us here on WR. Chris would probably like to post it as a "How-to" article. I know that I for one would love to have that set of directions in my file. Hoping to see those soon. 8)
I have to agree, that I like this one the best, partailly due to wood and also, I think the symetry of three has something to do with it. "one" is so asymetrical that it holds your eye, and while "two" is cool, I think in a way it is too stark and angular when viewed with the other two.
Of course, the technical aspects are perfect as always.
How do you keep from getting pressure rings/bruised wood at the inside turn in the maple bowls, I just can't seem to get past that hurdle.
