Another yew bowl

Sanded to 600grit and finished with mineral oil and beeswax paste that I mix myself. I really love the lines and cracks/inclusions that Yew wood has.

Nicely shaped bowl, with a well-done foot, and smooooooth surface. I sure do like that Yew wood, beautiful colors and grain. Yew seems to crack a lot (and these cracks look old).

Love that grain pattern! Nice touch on the foot, too. Will the colors fade or darken in time like so many other woods?

Well, thanks for the comments guys. The grain hasn't faded yet on any of the bowls I've made out of Yew. I have a bit more of the dry wood and just got a few short stumps of wet. Plan on turning more soon. Smile

Nice job. You did a very good job handling the 'defects' in the wood. They really stand out and add a lot to the character of the bowl.

Sometimes ya just have to let the wood tell ya what IT wants to do. I swear sometimes I think the pieces of wood I chuck up on the lathe already know what they want to be and if I deviate from that image they give me ALOT of trouble.
