Box Elder Burl Box

This is a box made from box elder burl. I didn't want to lose all of the surface figure and it wasn't quite interesting enough or large enough for platters most like to make. The finial is also made from box elder. The body is about six inches wide and four inches tall. Finished with Danish oil and a lacquer top coat. The finial was finished on the lathe with friction applied and polished shellac.
