I`m a little uncomfortable posting this one as I don`t feel this has evolved enough yet, but here it is....it`s influenced by Doug Fischer and Nick Agar.
Walnut, transtints, gold leaf, gilders waxes, colored briwax, metal paint, homemade punches, carving and maybe some more stuff I can`t recall, lol.
C+C`s are helpful.
Hi Vinny! You might think with so much going on that this piece would be too busy, but it looks interesting to me. The gold leaf is a bit of a Bamm!, but I still like it. Cool piece.
Vinny I love the way you push the envelope. Although this piece is interesting it looks like maybe you are experimenting with a lot of techniques all in one piece. I think maybe too many elements pulling your eye in all directions. I don't know what your intent is in this piece. After saying all of that I still like to look at it. I guess that is what art is all about.
Thanks for your comments guys. I`ve realized that I do enjoy pieces that are satisfying to look at, but also beckon some interpretation. I do appreciate literal representation of things around us, nature and otherwise, and the skill involved. However,I am finding that I am drawn more to symbolism, the slightly vague. Having said that, I am a mere infant in that regard, and you are correct....much of this piece is practice!
Just go for it
Vinny, I don't know how you come up with them but keep it up. I am in the less can be more camp, and with all the techniques involved you would think it would get too busy or confused, this one didn't. Great work
I think this looks like the fabled keyhole to the vortex.
Vinny - I too have been thinking about artistic items that I turn and wonder: "Am I done yet?". I have two items that I am at odds with. One I believe I need to do more on, however my bride believes its good the way it is. I too am infuenced by Fisher, which is why your turning caught my eye.
I hear ya Tom. There are others too, Dennis Elliott for example. I`ve logged quite a bit of time learning techniques and effects and am now mixing `em up...sometimes fun, sometimes frustrating. Don`t know if I`ll ever come to a "signature" style, but not too obsessed about it.
Just go for it
