These range in size from 4 to 6 inches high. The openings are 5/8 and 3/4.
A fair days work. The texture is wire brushing.
Finished with Tung oil, lacquer. The difference in shape shows my so far inconsistent eye for copying the same shape from memory, lol.
WoW... I see nothing wrong with your "inconsistent eye" these all look great to me, I wouldn't want all of them to look the same, this way it will give a person more to chose from. Some real nice looking wood their and the texturing adds another effect... nicely done! Wizzy
Thanks Mike. I`ve been wanting to try sandblasting to get more dramatic texturing. A fellow turner from the club has one and has offered to let me try it out.....looking forward to that! Russian Olive is just great for this effect.
Just go for it
Olive is beautiful to start with. Then you've gone and added a very pleasing shape to the wood. Very nicely done. Classic in style and your finish is good looking to boot. The texturing looks to be balanced with the piece and wood, well within boundaries so that it doesn't stick out and scream at me. Very nice work. I enjoy the grouping too. Excellent. 8)
