Canary Vessel

8 1/2" high by 2 3/4 " wide.
This is Canary wood And Cocobolo. It is thinner than it appears in the picture because of the size. I wanted to try scaling down the size I usually make this form. Is the base too chunky? Tall?

Vinny, I think this is a wonderful piece. Your proportions look pretty good to me. I think I understand what you are saying about the base being chunky, but don't think you have a problem there. The only thing I would say about it, and I'm being really picky to even bring it up, is that your base could reflect the finial a bit better. Maybe an inverted form would do it. A touch thinner toward the bottom of the base would give it more visual height and lift. All that said, I'm like Greg, I'd just be happy to call it mine. Beautiful piece. 8)

I believe the balance is spot on, the shape of the HF goes well with the bottom as it does with the finial, me personally, I wouldn't change a thing, I like it the way it is. Thumbs Up!
