Aspend and Birch Vase

This was actually a save that turned out much better than the original idea. I was going to make a vase with a bead around a small opening. When I was almost finished with the hollowing, I got over confident and blew out the rim when I was withdrawing the hollowing bar to clear the chips. Not wanting to feed the fireplace, I cut a little spalted birch to it, blended it in, and then perforated the rim with a bur bit in a Dremel. There is a small neck in the center that doesn't show well to keep prying fingers out of the inside.
