Bowl from a maple burl

This tree was harvested after the April 27th, 2011 tornadoes in Cullman, AL. Bowl is just over 10 inches by 4.5 inches deep finished with spray lacquer.

Have a friend in N. GA who turned bowls from burls much like this one. I got where he was dying them with multiple colors. The way the burl eyes would take or resist the dye made for a striking finish. Yours is great too. 8^)

Hey Roger, do you think the grain would have popped morenifnyou had rubbed some oil into the wood first?
