This hollow form was produced from a Cherry Burl section that was attacked by insects. I decided to experiment with filling the bug trails with an aluminum powder/CA glue mixture for aesthetics and stability. I had mixed emotions about the outcome of this one, until I turned the finial/cap from Aluminum and Ebony. Folks gravitated to this piece at 2 shows and it sold on the third attempt. I'm gonna miss it. C&C are welcomed. www.perfectwoodworks.com
I like it a lot. I'd have a hard time parting with it if I'd made it. I'd not thought of using aluminum dust but I don't have much. I like the look of brass with cherry so I'll use that a lot.
Live long, love lots, and turn fast.
I thought about brass, but felt it would have blended too well with the wood color. I was going for contrast in this piece. Maybe next time I'll try brass. Thanks for the comments.
