Spalted Hackberry HF

I found 3 pieces of this Hackberry that have been hidden(think lost) in the shop since '07. Dry as dust and hard as Pecancrete!6x3.5 (6x6 to top of finial) and finished with half a dozen coats of home brew DO, buffed and Ren wax. Finial is Walnut.

Another great piece. I've noticed that your finials are similar to each other. Are they patterned from one you've found somewhere or is that your original design? Also, how do decide on the size ratio for the the piece you're working on? Maybe that's a topic that needs to be discussed on the forum. Regardless, you have a fine eye and do great work. 8^)

I think Rev. picked up on something. That finial looks to me to be the perfect size for that piece. I mean, it really hits me as right on the money. Love the smooth fit where it meets the hackberry too. Killer piece, Bill.
