One thing I mentioned in the message boards would be to try using paste wax as a resist of the areas you don't want colored and then use prismacolor markers to fill in the blue. It may make it a bit easier that you have a bit of the blue left on two edges too. Hope this helps.
The lid has a big star on it(not pictured till Im done) If I do try the stars, I may try driving in wire aluminum or something else soft enuff to sand then do the color
