wow! pretty wood. I think it is turned and finished very nicely. My only critque issue is the base. it's abrupt. To help the flow from the top to bottom, maybe next time you could curve that foot under. Nonetheless, it is a super nice piece
Thanks Michelle. Got me looking at some of the other pieces I've done and I seem to just chop them off like that. So just round over the bottom a bit?

First , luv the neck/rim on this..looks super. OK, the sides of this are just a tad straight. To get the bottom to curl in a bit, one would need to have a flowing curve from the shoulder to the base..then "tuck" the base area in. Subtle is what you are going for, OK? hard to explain. My only suggestion is to look at as many super good turners vases and see how they do it.
Thaanks again Michell, have been doing exactly that. Now to transfer that to my turnings. One thing nice about this forum, two actually, great teachers, great examples.

Beautiful piece of walnut. Michell has given the advice I would have shared. Rounding the bottom into the foot might just give the curve that she and I are looking for. Otherwise this is one fantastic piece. Might I suggest you submit it for inclusion in the calendar? I believe it would stand a great chance of inclusion. 8^)
Thank you all for the kind words and the helpful criticism. Doug, will give the calendar thing a try, nothing to lose. Good luck all who enter.
