I went to a workshop by Jimmy Clewes a while back and saw him demonstrate an ogee shaped platter with a dyed rim. He used multiple colors--I stuck with just orange. The wood is a figured maple from Rockler that has fantastic ripples. Finished size is just under 12" across and about 1.5" high.
Very cool. My son would have a hissy if I came into the house with an orange rim. My wife is from TN and we don't show her any mercy about that. So no orange in our house. Love what you did though. Very nice work. Just don't tell LOML I said that though. 8^)
Carrie,
I like the orange but, I think it would give it more depth (right word?) if you added more & different colors. Like some red, yellow maybe even a little blue?
Just my opinion.
