Kaleidoscope

Description}: Here is my first Kaleidoscope. My club had a demo on them a couple months ago and came up with this design. It has a redwood burl eye piece. The beaded object box holder is Bradford pair. The four woods are maple, blond mahogany, lyptus and padauk. It 11" tall and is finished with 4 coat of gloss deft.

Description}: The cryptex is 12.5" long and 2.5" in diameter. It is constructed of Cherry finials and beads that are threaded together. The finials are hollowed out and deep blue flocking applied. I pyro'ed the letters on the Holly tumblers. The inner tube is Fiddle Back Maple and has brass pins. The tumbler tube (as is the tumbler rings) is staved constructed using Blond Mohogany. The bottom tumbler has a True Stone Turquois ring with my signature. The base is Sweet Gum ans was dyed with Artisan Red dye as were the finials. The entire project was finished with Masters Gloss Lacquer. All comments welcome!

Gear Head Pepper Grinder

Description}: Stacked tires and gold rim pepper grinder. I was challenaged by my wife to make a pepper grinder for my oldest son that is a gear head! Since he was old enough to play with things he has loved wheels. So what else would he like? Its all walnut, the rim on top is gilded gold and its finished with Master lacquer gloss finish.

Elm and Honduran Rosewood

Description}: I received a large hunk of Elm from Ron Saordo along with some chunks of Honduran Rosewood. I cored the elm to get three bowls. The two larger bowls I soaked in Walnut Oil and made a box out tof the smallest bowl with the rosewood. Then made a pen with the rosewood with a WR engraved and filled with crushed turquoise. Hope she likes them all. All comments welcome.

Description}: Free piece of Bradford Pear, or a road side rescue. 3.5 x 3.5" Finished with Deft spray gloss and Beall buffed. It cracked drying so I made some cut outs and filled with Turquoise. All Comments welcome.

Description}: 21" tall by 16" wide Redwood. 20 segments per ring. It the largest form I've turn and learned allot doing it. I'm not particulary fond of the shape but my wife likes it. It has a door on the back side to access the plant for watering and whatever else is needed. Inspired by the video title Vasebuilding Dance. I did use a chainsaw though.

Description}: Cherry doughnut with Maple sprinkles. 15" diameter with 56 rings and 896 pieces. The base is a 4.5" square of died cement with a few coats of semi gloss Deft.

Description}: All redwood 17" tall and 7" wide. The body is a staved construction with common redwood. The top and bottom are redwood burl. It has 5 coats of spar varnish.

Long list of learning lessons platter

Description}: I designed this for the Ray Allen tribute the AAW is having for this years symposium. But I did finish it in time nor is all that great. I had some alignment issue in two of the final glue ups to form the star. First issue was early on in the project, I cut the tip of right index finger off. My dad got sick so I was out of town helping with him, twice. Christmas came, other things to make. Had to go out of country for my job twice early this year. I think there is a few other minor issues as well. Anyhow, it is Maple, Lyptus, Cherry, Walnut, Holly and Padauk. The original thought was leadership. The northern star shows the path to follow. The feather bonnets imply the strength and wisdom of tribal elders. There she blows! Hope you like the concept and layout.
