Walnut Crotch Platter

Description}: This platter is from a very large slab of walnut, taken from the crotch of the tree. It's about 15 1/2" in diameter and 3/8" thick. Finished with Formby's Tung Oil Finish, buffed and waxed.

Dyed Curly Maple Hollow Form

Description}: Very few of my pieces get names, but this one is The Blue Tiger. It's curly maple, dyed with black TransTint liquid dye and turquoise TransFast powdered dye, then finished with buffed spray lacquer. It's about 5" tall and 7" wide, with walls somewhere around 1/8" to 3/16" thick.

Mesquite Wedding Bowl Set

Description}: This is a set of nested mesquite bowls I made as a gift for my nephew and his new bride. The largest bowl is about 12" wide and 8" deep. The rims were burned with a propane torch before the inside and outside were finish sanded. They're all finished with a couple of coats of BLO followed by a lot of coats of semi-gloss spraycan lacquer, wet sanded with 600 grit, buffed with PL compound, then waxed with Renaissance wax. I let the BLO cure for about a month before spraying the lacquer. This is my first successful 3-bowl set from the McNaughton.

Walnut Crotch and Ebony HF

Description}: This piece of walnut crotch wood is about 9" wide and 7 3/4" tall to the tip of the ebony finial. The hollow form was sanded to 1200 grit and finished with Formby's Tung Oil Finish...no finish on the finial. Both the hollow form and finial were buffed with Don Pencil's PL compound and followed up with Renaissance wax.

Dyed Ash Round Bottom NE Bowl

Description}: This is natural edged ash, about 12 1/4" wide and 7 1/2" tall, with no foot...just a rounded bottom. Finished with USL waterborne lacquer that was tinted with TransTint dyes.
