There's a pile of logs next to his shed that was an oak tree that fell on the shed in a storm about 5 years ago. Noticed that most of the pile has fungus growing on it... Grabbed Dad's chainsaw and split one of the smaller ones in half and took it home. Last week, cut a blank out of the smaller half and turned this. Apparently needed more drying time as it is now oval ;) Approx 5" x 1 3/8" Finished with Deft Semi-Gloss. There was a wormhole in this piece, filled with coffee grounds just to try that out. As always, comments welcome!

3 comments http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=8885&title=spalted-oak-bowl&cat=658 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=8885&title=spalted-oak-bowl&cat=658 Fri, 28 May 2010 23:38:55 +0000 Curly Maple Bowl

by: Kevin Stanbary

Description}: Completed May 3, 2010.
