Large maple bowl

Description}: Large Maple bowl turned from ambrosia maple. It is 17" in dia and weighs just over 4 pounds. I finished it with salad bowl finish. I tuned the rim to look thick, but tapered it down to around 3/8" or less for the rest of the bowl. Jack

Description}: This one is 12" high by 8" dia. It is from the same round of wood as the curly maple vase. It might not be curly, but still looks good. I had to turn more of the bottom away than I wanted, to get a couple of checks out. It made for a different look. Thanks, Jack

This is the first bowl I turned out of the cherry burl haul

Description}: This bowl is around 7 1/2" in dia. and was turned from the the burl setting on top of the larger burls in the left side of the other photo. It is turned side grain since the trunk was so rotten. The burl was dry enough to turn down and sand the next week. I have two coats of sanding sealer on it so far. I will let it dry another month before I finsh it. Jack
