Description}: About 6" in height. This blank was supposed to be a bowl. Problem was I took to long in getting to turn it and it started to crack. I knew this blank was going to be really nice so started chopping away until I had a blank that I can use for this form.

Description}: About 6" tall Maple Ebony and Bubinga One of the problems when making a box is making sure the grains aligns well. You never get it perfect, there is always a trade off. With spalted wood it even more difficult because of the way the black spalted moves around the piece, it just never looks right I decided to try adding a ebony collar to replace the wood that was lost when using the parting tool. I think it worked well.

Description}: Only because Doug asked what we are working on I decided to jump the gun and show a project that I have been working on. This has been a tough project to get all the materials to work together. I had a few failed experiments but I finally got everything to work. But, I'm not happy with the design, so at the moment I'm working on a better design with the same concept and some elements will be changed and added Bubinga, Ebony, Alabaster, Copper and Brass.

Segmented Bubinga Bowl

Description}: This almost was a a hollow form. I had this piece vacuum chucked on a lathe when we had a power outage. You can guess what happen next. This sat on one of my work benches for a while until I figured out how to remount it. By the time I got around to working on it again the form moved just enough to make it even more difficult so I decided with a little sanding I could make a bowl out of it. It measures about 4.25" high by about 6.5" wide. Bubinga, ebony and maple burl. Thanks For Looking
