Description}: This was made from 8 "bowls" cut into halves and quarters, joined back together. To determine the start and finish, I used the "I have no idea" method! I just started temp gluing up the pieces till I got the two ends fairly close. Then just kept putting together 3 or 4 different cominations of pieces till I found a fit. Wish there was a program or something to make that part easier.

Description}: This was inspired from the back cover of American Woodturner Magazine. Each one of the lettered rings turn to line up the code which releases the spring loaded inner box. In between each ring I used an old cd as a spacer and washer, so to speak. I drilled 12 holes indexed on the cds and have one small bullet catch inserted in each of the fixed walnut rings. This created a clicking sound when the rings are turned, and keeps the rings from spinning freely after the inner box is removed. The code is the lyrics to Bob Marley's song One Love, and is spelled out all the way around the box. It reads like this for each column One love 1 heart lets get 2gether and feel alright as it was in the be- ginning so shall it be in the end

Description}: The top half of this piece was originally the bottom of a previous piece that didnt work out for me. Its a bit squatty and the zebrawood ring is a bit low....but oh well

Description}: This piece started out with a Box elder top with lotsa flames............sumpin didnt fit or look right....so I went inside and looked thru old finished bowls I had lying around and found one that looked......better than what I had planned. It happened to be the diameter I needed. So the Magnolia top was canabilized from a previously finished piece.........the Box elder piece is being used for a new piece................coming soon This piece is 16" x 7"

Description}: This piece started out as just a walnut and maple "ribbon" or "Mobius" (sp?) ...3 and 1/4 bowls cut and rejoined....then I thought "this looks like a chessboard!" and built from there. After many design changes (beers)...it finally got done. Thanks to Bobtheturner for the excellent picture. He dont know it yet but he's gonna take pics of all my stuff!

Description}: The tall piece was to be a water vessel with a handle. After making a handle with diamonds, I put it up against the piece and it looked really guady (sp?) so I just left it as is. Maybe just a white handle would look better.....mebbe someday I'll finish it!.....mebbe not

Description}: This piece was kinda copied from a piece Malcolm Tibbetts made called John's Turning. I bought his book and learned alot. Thought I would try some of his methods. This piece has 1021 pieces and took about 75 hours. 13" x 8"

Description}: This piece was quite a challenge to make. It took me longer to tweak angles to make a perfect fit than it did to cut them all and glue them. That was a challenge too! Due to the way they fit together, they had to be glued up all at once. After rough shaping, the points of intersection where drilled out and a plug inserted.

Description}: NE Cherry The cracks (the zig zag ones) are from stress when the tree fell only being cut 1/2 way thru. This came off a job I was working on and made this for the homeowner . Clients eat that stuff up!!

Description}: Heres a cutoff of manzanita. Finished in tung oil. Just glued it to a piece of plywood and mounted it on a faceplate. Moved it for each "bowl". This little piece was fun!

Description}: 11" x 8" little over a 1/4" in thickness. Not recomended if you wear dentures!! I dont and it still almost rattled my teeth out!! You also dont want to put your hand in there to sand!!

Description}: Teak and purpleheart. This started out with the intention of having a solid spindle turning inside. After breaking one end off, that piece was going to be the bottom. After breaking the other end off (and not wanting to start over) I decided to suspend it inside off fishing line.
