Description}: A minimal surface that joins the edges of a trefoil knot and a flat plane. If you trace the inner edge you will find it is a single line that traces out a 3 lobed knot, known as a trefoil. This forms the basis/inspiration for many of the symbols we see around us every day like the Girl Scout logo, the radiation hazard symbol and even the recycle symbol. That you can use it to come up with a minimal surface is just cool. Figured Big Leaf Maple Bleach, stain, pyro, lacquer 9" x 2.5"

Description}: A vessel inspired by the work of John Jordan. Latest in my Fibonacci series although this is a little more subtle. There are 8 spirals in each direction and it is symmetrical. This was kind of a Mickey Mouse piece. Mulberry Tung oil/varnish mix 5"H x 8"D

Description}: I started this soon after attending a demo of Michael Kehs at the Hartford AAW symposium. It has taken a back seat on the bench for a while, but finally completed. I did it for practice to see if I could do a "leaf piece". It was an experience and I learned a lot, but involves a LOT of sanding. Wish I'd picked a better piece of wood and hollowed it more carefully, but it was only practice. Sugar Maple (bleached to get some ugly brown streaks out) Kryon 6" H x 9"D

Description}: The most recent addition to my diatom series. This is actually a radiolarian, which is a protozoan phytoplankton. Both diatoms and Radiolaria have incredible skeletons that have amazing structure revealed by scanning electron microscope. Macassar Ebony 3.75" x 6"
