Description}: I finished sanding when I was down to the first knuckles. No need for fingernails. This was a crotch of 3 limbs which made the wavy edge. I think bent bark is pretty neat. 8 coats of poly and 3 fingers to the nub. Herb

Description}: The red gum bowl is 8"x4" with 6 coats of poly. The Oak tree is 9"x6", Oak & sycamore. Sorry just had to slip the tree in there, its more golden oak color. Bad picture.

Description}: Yes you have seen one of these last week. The one in the back is 9x3, the front one is 9x4. Anything worth doing is worth doing twice. These are made from the same board. I cut a plank in half & glued them together to make a bowl, X2. 8 coats of poly. Herb

Rockin Maple 11"x3"

Description}: This rock maple was harder than stone and twice as brittle. Cracked open in 3 places before I had it half turned. I roughed it then bagged it till it stopped loosing wt. When I unbagged, it was badly split in 3 places and allmost went to the firewood pile. I CA it and whittled it down on the lathe to what you see now. The cracks are unnoticable. Glad I saved the Stone Maple. 8 coats of poly. Herb

Description}: I soaked it in dna 24 hours to help remove the sap. Wiped it dn with dna many times to keep the sap out of my sandpaper. Glad I finished the fat wood vase but probably wont do another. finished with 8 coats of poly. Herb

Natural Edge Vase

Description}: Neighbor cut his Bradford Pear tree so I made a vase from it. My first natural edge. Micro waved it to dry it. Grain sealer to hold the bark on, then buffing compound and carnuba polished. Has a porcelain look to it. Herb
