Kingwood Pendant with "Cactus Guts" and Turquoise

Description}: A 2 in. pendant turned from Kingwood, then carved and inlaid with a portion of Prickly Pear skeleton and filled with Turquoise. The outer rim was filled with silver cream.

Description}: Never met an Aussie Burl I didn't like. This one's Coolibah, 7 5/8" x 6 1/8" x 1 5/8". Just to make it interesting the entire piece was turned using only Blue Tape and Hot Glue for a chuck.

Description}: Had to do something with this little piece of Box Elder Burl - so I made a little box. Finial is African Blackwood containing sapwood. The box is a little more than 2 1/4" square.

Description}: Multi-centre figure based on the work of Pablo Nemzoff. The figure is Phillipine Mahogany finished with shellac; the base Maple Burl finished with shellac and gun stock glaze to add a little brown. Overall height is 9".

Pink Ivory Ornament

Description}: One piece ornament, Pink Ivory, for my grand daughter; hence the color and stylized "girl" shape. Feels heavy - even though it's hollow - but it only weighs in @ 2 oz., well within the AAW guideline. The top would be rounder, but I tightened the screw eye a half a turn too much and it broke - below the surface, of course. I had to carve out some of the wood to get down far enough to grip the broken piece and twist it out.

Walnut Bear Fetish

Description}: Thought I'd try my hand on a little carving. The bear fetish was carved out of a Walnut vase with a Dremel tool and a 1/4" burr. The vase sides were left a little thick to make sure I didn't go through it with the Dremel. The entire piece has been ebonized with a vinegar/iron filings mix, and the carved area gone over after carving was complete. The color on the bear is "Rub 'N Buff" Gold Leaf and is 4 5/8" tall.

Description}: A variation of the Angel Wing bowl with curved "wings". This was turned from a green Mesquite log 8" in dia. and 16" long and inlaid with Turquoise. The completed bowl is 4" high, 5 1/2" wide, and 11" long.
