From left they are Bay Laurel, black walnut & Horminga Negra. The smallest is just over 6 inches and I hadn't put the hardware in yet when I took the photo. The main wood is oak and the dark band is black walnut. Since I didn't have a piece of wood tall enough to make the body & lid out of one piece I used the walnut to help break up the grain lines to disguise that fact. It is 2.75 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall.

7 comments http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7645&title=salt-box&cat=500 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7645&title=salt-box&cat=500 Tue, 12 May 2009 14:58:23 +0000 birdhouse-ornaments2

by: Bill Neff

Description}: From left are elm, center- apple & maple on right. Since it's my 2nd bowl I finished & used CA & sawdust in the larger cracks. If nothing else it's a candy bowl for the office. I finished it with a shellac, BLO & denatured alcohol (4 coats). I used a "donut clamp" to finish the bottom & now there are a couple of rings on the side where top of the clamp rode. I did have a 1/4" foam pad around it, so I must have clamped a little to tight. Any suggestions on a top finish? (I don't have a jaw type chuck to rechuck it)

4 comments http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7329&title=wb-1a&cat=500 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7329&title=wb-1a&cat=500 Fri, 13 Mar 2009 01:14:31 +0000 Osage Orange bowl top view

by: Bill Neff

Description}: Here's the view from above.

3 comments http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7228&title=osage-orange-bowl-top-view&cat=500 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7228&title=osage-orange-bowl-top-view&cat=500 Thu, 19 Feb 2009 21:23:54 +0000 Osage Orange bowl

by: Bill Neff

Description}: This is my first bowl.
