Description}: A two Piece hollow form made from Bloodwood. Finial and stem are ABW and the bridge is dyed Honey Locust.

Description}: I entered this piece in the Allentown Art Festival (Buffalo NY) and was awarded 1st place for the hard crafts. There are 6 pcs total all lathe turned. The base is dyed Locust, the bottom post is Ebony with an Ebony pin locking it to the base. The ship is a two piece hollow form from bloodwood and the finial is African blackwood.

Description}: I received these at the AAW show from a friend to remind me that a slight curve at the bottom of the form makes the form look lighter and much better. Ken, this can be done while the pc is still on the lathe.

Description}: This is a piece of NIP that I've been working on for some time. It has a 60 coat tung oil finish and sanded with micromesh. A wonderful gentleman purchased it last weekend for his sister.

Description}: I used 2 part bleach on this holly to remove some of the normal holly stain. I didn't want to use any oil that might change the color so it's sanded to 1500 and beal buffed only.

Description}: I love this wood because of the colors and the burls grow all over the tree. It comes from Florida. The finial is also AL and the cap is ebony.

Description}: This pc was a cut off from another Lebbeck HF I did. Almost threw it in the burn barrel but held back at the last second. Glad I did. Reminds me a a rotten apple. Ebony base with ABW cap. 3.35x2.

Description}: When I was in Reno last month I stopped at the Woodcraft store and they had some wood that they had purchased from the estate of an old turner. They think this is Big Leaf Maple Burl. One side is golden in color and the other is a grey color. Dedicated to the old guy that never got the chance to turn this.

Rosewood Hollow Form

Description}: I got this piece of Rosewood a few years ago in FL. It's the largest pc I've seen to date. The best finish I've found for Rosewood is sanding to 1500 and Beal buffing. Tung oil, Teak oil, poly, lacquer all come out blotchey because of the oils in the wood. Any other ideas for finishing?

Description}: This is a crotch pc of Mahogany that was a little to small to turn a plate, so I tried to get the feathering into the front of the form. I tried to do something different with the cap and finial.

Description}: NIP I saw a special on Steven Hawking and Black Holes. This is my interpretation of his theory. The base is Bkack Walnut dyed Ebony and represents his theory that the Black Hole is a bridge between universes.

Description}: This is a Norfolk Island Pine hollow form that the bottom is 3/16. The entire bottom is translucient.(sp)It was soaked in Linseed oil for 24 hrs and placed in the sun for 12 hrs. That helps bring out the colors.
