Description}: I made this set for my Pastor and his wife a while back and I finally finished them. They are not identical but they are pretty close. 3 " tall 1 1/8" wide

Description}: This was another saved piece of firewood. Went over to a lady in our church to look at her car. Walked inside afterwards and sat down to make a phone call. Guess what I saw. My eyes lit up like a kid on christmas. So I made this for her as a thank you for the piece. Should get a few more pieces out of this log. I filled the wormholes with a turquoise looking sand I found at the craft store. I didn't feel like waiting on some inlace or something of the sort. It looks good I think. 3 3/4" tall 3" wide fun fun fun.

Thermal Imaging?

Description}: Here is a thermal imaging map of the pecan NE bowl I turned. I shows how dense a particular section of the bowl is. Dense wood is Blue, Less Dense is yellow. Just kidding, that would be cool though. Sorry if you're mad. I was just playing around in photoshop and came up with this. Enjoy!

Description}: This is the largest bowl that I've turned yet. I used the shopsmith and the good ole stronghold chuck. Turning this was lots of fun. After a night of frustration with a piece of dried maple this was a welcome experience. 4 1/2 inches tall 4 1/4 inches across not as thin as the firewood bowl but pretty thin for me.

Description}: Well I messed up getting out of my vehicle and broke my original piece in two. I happened to run across a piece of wood on my parents front porch that looked as if it was spalted. Turns out it was. I was so happy. Well I turned the top and bottom side grain orientation and the stem is purpleheart. 7 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches. Will easily hold a 3 inch candle. Sorry Junior, hope you like this one too.

Description}: The lady that I make the needles for took this picture for a Instructional Knitting video my company is putting together for her. I do video editing and graphic design to fund my woodturning and to pay the bills. Anyways, these are Ebony and they are about 5 1/2 inches long and are size 16(11mm) Double Point for making cords.

Description}: Well, here it is Junior. I hope you like it. It's Poplar with a wipe on poly finish. Like a friggin idiot I for got to take exact measurements last night, but no worries I'll get those soon. The stem is under 3/8 and that elongated cove mid stem is smaller.

Cocobolo Double Point Knitting Needles

Description}: I make knitting needles for a Lady I know who owns a knitting shop. These are about 6.5 inches and double point making the single points with the stoppers at the back are lots of fun. I'll post a pic of those when I turn some more.

Description}: These bowls are Oak and are my first attempts at natural edge and my first successfull side grain turnings. The larger one is about 2 3/4 inches tall. They are small but atleast they are a start. Many more to come.

Mallet from tree branch

Description}: This was one of the turnings I did before the first goblet. It was my first time mouning raw wood into the lathe. It was a great feeling to make something out of a seemingly useless piece of wood from a tree I felled. It has since cracked a little but is still completley usable.

Description}: I bought my wife this british knife at the army surplus and she loves throwing her knives. She threw this one at a tree and jarred the handle off. So I had the task of making a new one. Needless to say she isn't throwing it anymore.

Poplar Goblet

Description}: This was my second attempt at a goblet. I wanted to make it taller like the other one but things weren't going right. I dug in while hollowing out and all of the screws in the faceplate shot out. Thankfully no one was perpendicular to that point of screw expulsion. No finish on this one yet. Waiting to get some Mahoney's finish.

Description}: This box is made completely out of cedar and is by far my favorite. In this pic it is not completley finished. I still have a couple of coats of poly to apply, but I wanted to take a picture of it. The design was kind of an accident, I took to much of a cut with the gouge and made the first cove at the top and then decided to see how it would look with a couple of them. I liked it.
